About Epidermis Circus

Watch a Jim Henson Company puppeteer make a live puppet film before your very eyes, using only household objects, a camera, and her bare hands. Ingrid Hansen animates cheeky vignettes in the palm of her hand and projects them onto a huge screen. This spicy puppetry cabaret features mind-bending illusions. Get your comedy fix and stretch your brain into surreal worlds.

Epidermis Circus is created Canada’s top inventive minds including Ingrid Hansen of Emmy-award winning series Sesame and Fraggle Rock and JIMBO the Drag Clown winner of Rupaul’s Drag Race All Stars.

“Utterly magical, insanely inventive, wickedly funny, and beautifully twisted.  Imagine Lambchops Puppeteer Shari Lewis’s soul possessed by David Lynch. With dark, deadpan humour, Hansen employs video projection to provocative, cinematic effect.  ★★★★★ ” – Winnipeg Free Press.

Show Content: Epidermis Circus includes cartoonish sexual content, swear words, and puppet suicide. There are moments of dark lighting, loud music, and surprises

The Company That Created Epidermis Circus

SNAFU’s work invigorates people of all ages, creating dynamic spaces for young and old to experience art together under new terms.  Our creative collaborations connect multi-disciplinary artists in theatre, storytelling, puppetry, dance, live music, circus, and visual art.  We create unexpected spectacles in unusual spaces, including bike trails, public washrooms, theatres, art galleries, fields, heritage sites, parking garages, schools and prisons.

SNAFU targets audiences who do not normally go to watch live theatre.   Spectators are invited to have an active role in the action as it unfolds. We work with dynamic visual storytelling with a low-fi, Do-it-yourself aesthetic using repurposed, recycled and found materials as often as possible.   Everyone involved in the process is invited to throw ideas into the pot, including stage managers, visiting artists, neighbors, or passers-by.  We continually seek feedback from our audiences and other artists and mentors across Canada.
